State police say a man from Jordan NY sped away from a DWI checkpoint, crashed his motorcycle and then fled from police on foot. The man was originally pulled over at the checkpoint for not having a state inspection sticker.
Anthony C. Brown of Elbridge, NY was charged with second degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree criminal impersonation and second degree reckless endangerment along with several traffic violations.
New York State Troopers stopped Brown at around 8 p.m. at a DWI checkpoint in the town of Eldersburg after they noticed the missing sticker on his 1993 Yamaha motorcycle. After being directed by Troopers to pull to the side of the roadway, Brown failed to comply and sped away from the checkpoint, passing another motorist on the right.
He sped away west on State Route 5 until he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the shoulder of the road. At that point Brown ran from the scene where he was pursued by members of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s office, K-9 Unit, State Police and Air-1. Brown was found hiding behind a building near the crash and was taken into custody.
Brown was arraigned in Elbridge Town Court and transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center where he was held on $2,500 bail.
